No Surprise Act

Public Health Service (PHS) Act 2799B-3 and Section 45 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 149.430, describe medical consumer legal protections known as the No Surprise Act (NSA).

If you have an emergency medical condition and get emergency services from an out of network provider or facility, the most the provider or facility may bill you is your plan’s in network cost-sharing amount (such as copayments and coinsurance). You can’t be balance billed for these emergency services.

No Surprise Act Good Faith Estimates

Upon request, we are happy to provide registered patients with a good faith estimate based upon physician prescribed services, which will include expected charges for items or services as published in our current standard fee schedule. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur.

Ultrasound in Soldotna, Often at a Lower Cost

Sound Imaging is an independent outpatient ultrasound clinic on the Kenai Peninsula. Hospitals on the Kenai Peninsula provide vital emergency, surgical and inpatient care around the clock. Their pricing covers the cost of running all of those services, which is why hospital outpatient imaging often includes a facility fee.

As a freestanding ultrasound clinic in Soldotna, our costs are lower, and patients often see that difference in what they pay.

  • No hospital facility fee.
  • Know your price before you schedule. Ask for a Good Faith Estimate so you know what to expect ahead of time.
  • Lower out-of-pocket costs with many insurance plans, because your coinsurance or deductible is usually based on the total charge.
  • Self-pay pricing for patients paying without insurance.

You have the right to choose where you get your ultrasound, even if your referral lists another imaging provider. Ask any imaging provider for a Good Faith Estimate and compare. We’re happy to give you ours.

Costs vary by insurance plan and type of exam. Call Sound Imaging at (907) 531-2726 with your insurance information, and we’ll explain what to expect.
